Statement of Work (SOW)
WordPress Theme Brand new/Redesign & Front-End Implementation
1. Project Overview
This project involves a complete visual and layout overhaul of a brand new WordPress website. The objective is to faithfully translate a provided design file and/or reference site into a fully functional WordPress front end.
In addition to front-end design implementation, the project will include:
• A bilingual language toggle (English/French) - a plugin can be used
• A newsletter subscription feature (Mailchimp or Constant Contact)
• A clean Wordpress and Access to Admin will be provided


2. Objectives
• Recreate the provided design pixel-for-pixel across all templates
• Deliver a seamless, responsive experience across all devices
• Enable bilingual content access (English/French)
• Implement a clean, user-friendly newsletter subscription workflow

3. Scope of Work
3.1 Theme Development
• Create or update a WordPress child theme (or equivalent)
• Modify and extend PHP template files, including:
o Header and footer
o Homepage
o Page templates
o Blog/archive templates
o Reusable components

3.2 Styling & Layout
• Implement design using structured, maintainable CSS/SCSS
• Apply all visual elements:
o Typography
o Color palette
o Layout/grid system
o Spacing and alignment
• Ensure strict adherence to provided design assets

3.3 Responsive Design
• Build fully responsive layouts aligned with design breakpoints
• Optimize for:
o Mobile
o Tablet
o Desktop
• Test across modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge)

3.4 Bilingual Functionality (English/French)
• Implement a language toggle allowing users to switch between English and French
• Configure bilingual support using a standard WordPress multilingual approach (e.g., plugin-based solution)
• Ensure:
o All templates support language switching
o Navigation, menus, and key UI elements are translatable
o Language toggle is integrated into the site header (or as per design)
• Support client-provided translated content (translation services not included unless specified)

3.5 Newsletter Subscription Feature
• Design and implement a newsletter signup form aligned with the provided UI
• Integrate with a third-party email marketing platform (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or equivalent)
• Features include:
o Email capture form (with validation)
o Success/error messaging
o Basic spam protection (e.g., reCAPTCHA if required)
• Ensure form styling matches the overall site design
• Ensure GDPR/CASL-friendly consent checkbox (if required)

3.6 Accessibility (AODA Compliance)
• Implement accessibility best practices aligned with AODA standards, including:
o Semantic HTML structure
o Proper labeling of form fields (including newsletter form)
o Keyboard navigation support
o Adequate color contrast

3.7 Code Quality
• Follow WordPress coding standards
• Use modular, well-organized SCSS/CSS
• Include clear inline documentation where necessary

4. Deliverables
• Updated WordPress child theme
• Fully styled and responsive templates
• Functional bilingual language toggle (EN/FR)
• Integrated newsletter subscription feature
• Clean, commented CSS/SCSS files
• Cross-browser tested implementation
• Hand-off documentation, including:
o Template structure overview
o Styling/file organization
o Instructions for managing:
 Language content
 Newsletter integration

5. Client Responsibilities
• Provide:
o Site Wireframes
o Brand guidelines
o Fonts and assets
o English and French content (or confirm translation source)
o Links to promo videos to be displayed on the site
o Access to email marketing platform (API keys if required)

• Provide timely feedback and approvals

6. Assumptions
• Translation content is provided by the client
• Third-party newsletter platform account is active and accessible
• No advanced marketing automation setup is included
• Existing WordPress environment is functional and stable

7. Timeline & Milestones
Estimated timeline:
• Standard redesign: 1–2 weeks
Final timeline will be confirmed after reviewing design complexity and content readiness.

8. Revisions
• Includes 1–2 rounds of revisions
• Additional revisions may be scoped and billed separately

9. Acceptance Criteria
The project will be considered complete when:
• Design matches provided mockups (or agreed look and feel) across all breakpoints
• Language toggle functions correctly across the site
• Newsletter form successfully captures and submits user data
• Site passes cross-browser and responsive testing
• Client approval is received
