Build YouTube-Style Video Platform

I’m putting together a full-scale video sharing service that recreates the most familiar YouTube flows while introducing our own “follow” system instead of traditional subscriptions. The build must allow creators to upload content, have it automatically transcoded into adaptive streams, and play back smoothly across web and mobile.

Core user interactions are essential: viewers should be able to like or dislike a video, leave public comments, share it externally, save it to a personal “watch later” list, or flag it if they believe it violates guidelines. Every channel displays a simple Follow button so audiences can keep up with new uploads without subscribing in the usual sense.

Because performance and growth are priorities, the codebase should be modular and cloud-ready with an efficient media pipeline, a scalable database for user data and comments, and a reporting dashboard that surfaces flagged content for moderation.
