Senior Full-Stack Developer / Agency – Legacy Takeover & Feature Updates for Automotive Marketplace (4 Apps + Web + Backend)
Job Description
Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced, deeply technical Senior Developer or small, elite team to take over maintenance, optimization, and feature development for an established automotive parts marketplace operating in Saudi Arabia.
The entire ecosystem was built two years ago by an external agency. We have the complete source code and are looking for a long-term technical partner who excels at reading, auditing, and building upon existing legacy codebases. If you only know how to build apps from scratch, please do not apply.
The Ecosystem Structure
Customer Facing: 2 Mobile Apps (iOS and Android) + Responsive Website
Vendor Facing: 2 Mobile Apps (iOS and Android) for inventory and order management
Backend: Centralized backend/API connecting all platforms, databases, and admin panels.
Localization: Full Arabic and English support across all platforms (strict Right-to-Left / LTR UI handling).
Tech Stack (To be confirmed/refined)
Mobile Apps: Flutter / React Native / Native iOS & Android
Backend & API: Node.js / Laravel / Python
Database: PostgreSQL / MySQL / MongoDB
Scope of Work
Code Audit & Local Setup (Paid Milestone 1): Review the existing codebase, set up the development environment locally, and fix one minor, pre-identified bug to prove codebase mastery.
Performance & Localization Optimization: Ensure seamless Arabic/English switching and optimize asset loading (specifically high-res automotive part images) across the vendor and buyer flows.
New Feature Implementation: Roll out a queued list of updates, including advanced vendor analytics, an updated localized referral program, and payment gateway enhancements.
DevOps & Maintenance: Handle deployment pipelines to App Store Connect and Google Play Console.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in full-stack mobile and backend development.
Proven track record of legacy code takeovers. You must be able to prove you have successfully taken over an app built by another company.
Deep understanding of Arabic localization (RTL) layout mirroring and handling dual-language string files dynamically.
Strong architectural skills—you understand how data flowing from a vendor app affects the buyer app via the backend in real-time.
Excellent written communication skills for asynchronous updates.
HOW TO APPLY (Failure to follow instructions results in instant rejection)
To filter out automated bidding bots and "vibe coders" who do not read details, your proposal must start with the exact phrase: "I have reviewed the 4-app marketplace structure."
In your proposal, please briefly answer these two questions:
What is the most challenging part of taking over a codebase built by another agency, and how do you mitigate that risk during the first week?
Briefly describe a project where you managed a dual-language (English/Arabic) application with complex layout flipping.
